PD Pneumatic Actuator

The TSI Flow Products Model PD Pneumatic Diaphragm Actuator is an automatic fail-safe actuator, and is manufactured in accordance with APl 6A Specifications.

The actuator assembly is designed to provide a means for protecting personal, the environment, and the installation as well as to conserve a valuable product in the event of programmed and/or undesirable or abnormal situation.

All critical parts that are not stainless steel are Xylan coated which has exceptional resistance to a wide range of alkalines, acids, solvents, and marline environment. Parts that are of stainless steel trim are suitable for H2S and a standard for the actuator. Maximum working pressure is 170 psi and test pressure is 225 psi .

Temperature range is 0º F to +150ºF.The actuator has safeguards against overpressure with a safety relief valve installed.

The PD Actuator has a quick disconnect attachment from the bonnet assembly. The PD Actuator is designed for adaption to standard bonnet assemblies using a bonnet adapter ring.

Actuator shaft position gives a visual positive indication of the reverse acting gate position, i.e., when the shaft is down, the gate is open, when the shaft is up, the gate is closed. The actuator spring provide rapid and reliable valve shutdown when there is little or no valve body pressure available.

The actuator can be fitted with a hand-wheel unit or a hydraulic unit to hold open the valve in the event that there is no supply pressure as well as a fusible and non-fusible lock –open device.

PD Pneumatic Diaphragm Actuator Features & Benefits

  • Less Maintenance – Design eliminates the rolling of the diaphragm, moving o-ring seals and leads to longer seal life.
  • Quick Disconnect – Actuator can be removed from the valve without the use of special tools or external pressure sources.
  • Lightweight – Easy to install and maintain.
  • Diaphragm Area – Permits use of low pressure supply or gas system control.
  • Over-Pressure Protection – An externally located relief valve provides over-pressure protection to the diaphragm and upper case.
  • Corrosion Protection – All internal parts of the PD Actuator than are not stainless steel are coated with xylan to prevent corrosion or contamination that might be present in the control pressure source.
  • Metal-to-Metal Back Seat – The contact point between the Stem and Bonnet is designed to provide an up-stop and metal-to-metal seal.
  • Orientation – Radial bolting to allow proper orientation of control ports.
  • Bonnet Packing – A tattle-tale weep port located above the bonnet packing to provide confirmation of seal integrity during operation.
  • Visual Indication – Upper stem extension to provide visual open-close of gate position at a glance.
  • Drift – Factory preset valve drift eliminates the need for field adjustment.
  • Adjustable Drift – Internal drift adjustment that eliminates washers or shims.
